Taylor Blackwell, Rotary Youth Exchange Student

Taylor Blackwell is a 2012 graduate of Pittsford Sutherland High School.  She was vice president and co-president of the Interact Club, and received the Student Service Award last year from Pittsford Rotary Club.  As a Rotary Youth Exchange Student, Taylor visited France from August 28, 2012 through June 28, 2013.  She stayed in the town of Rambouillet, a town of 30,000 people that is located southwest of Paris.  School classes were from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a 3-hour mid-day break.  At Sutherland, Taylor enjoyed varsity basketball, so she signed up for basketball at Lycee Louis Bascan and found a more relaxed group of student participants.  Taylor went to the Rotary meeting in Rambouillet every 2 weeks where they served steak and wine.  Part of her visit included a multi-city European trip with many other Youth Exchange students.  Taylor learned a lot about people, and about herself.
