Our fifth meeting of the Rotary 2016-17 year was today, Wednesday, August 3, 2016, in the Fisher Room of the Pittsford Community Library.

Our usual hot breakfast was served thanks to Lisa at 7:00 AM and our business meeting started around 7:30AM. We finished around 8:30AM. This week, Steve Wilterdink won a free breakfast, but not the 50/50 raffle jackpot!

The tourney is less than a week away -- this coming Monday, August 8, at Victor Hills.  Peter Brown and Chris McCoy have been busy with others preparing for what should be an outstanding day of food, fellowship and golf. They updated us on registration and sponsors: Golfers: 50, Sponsors: 36, Woodcliff Raffle Sales: over $1,000 in sales.

Our scheduled guest speaker, Alvin Herdklotz, Commander of the Pittsford Rayson Miller American Legion Post, called in sick.

The Foundation of the Rotary Club of Pittsford donated $3,000 to Habitat for Humanity this year.  Additionally, fellow Rotarians including Lynn Freshman and Bob Vukosic have volunteered a full day of construction work.  Great job, guys (and gals)!

In 2016-17, our Rotary Foundation turns 100. That’s a century of Rotary members changing lives and improving communities all over the world. And that’s definitely something worth celebrating.  Through our Foundation, Rotary members have supported thousands of projects to provide clean water, fight disease, promote peace, provide basic education, and grow local economies. We’ve also been a leader in the fight to eradicate polio worldwide. Please provide checks to Steve Wilterdink payable to The Rotary Foundation through Sept 7! The Club will provide a single surrogate “check” to DG Rogers on Sep 14, then mail the funds collected to date to TRF.  Your donation will be matched 100% by our Club Foundation.

The Foundation of the Rotary Club of Pittsford is a 501c3, i.e. a tax exempt non-profit organization. Tax ID for The Foundation of the Rotary Club of Pittsford, New York Inc. is 16-1601574. Donations to The Foundation of the Rotary Club of Pittsford are tax deductible.

However, The Rotary Club of Pittsford is not a 501c3. Therefore, membership dues, meeting fees, and any out of pocket expenses relating to Club activities are not tax deductible.

Next week's meeting will be a recap of the Golf Tournament.
