Today's greeter and invocation was led by Pete Crooker.  We also got to know more about Steve Wilterdink who graduated from Hobart College in 1971. He has always lived in Upstate NY except during a brief stint at the Marine Corps Reserve. He likes going to warmer climate during the winter. Steve just celebrated his 10-year anniversary in Florida with his 2nd wife, Pam. When his first wife passed away, Steve swore never to get married again, but he took the risk and his second marriage paid off. Steve has 2 brothers and a daughter who graduated in 2009 and now works at a software comapny in NYC. Steve is a financial adviser with Northwestern Mutual.  His market niche is increasing financial security during retirement and long-term care coverage. His primary hobby is history.  He likes to learn and read about famous characters in history such as "Rebel Yell: The Violence, Passion, and Redemption of Stonewall Jackson." In addition to Rotary, Steve is involved with the Red Cross, United Way, American Legion and R Community Bike.
 
Gaven Hurley announced the submission of a District Simplified Grant to purchase water taps for residents of Cape Town, South Africa.  The project was spearheaded by former Interact President Katherine Wegma.  She will also look into partnering with other clubs for a possible RI Global Grant to provide solar powered electricity to the residents.
 
We also welcomed Martin Van Dussen who is an independent business owner of Farmers Insurance. Marty is looking to see if the Rotary Club of Pittsford is a fit for his career and interests.
 
Today's speaker is Tricia Cruz from Ibero American Action League.  Ibero is a dual-language human services agency that teaches individuals of all backgrounds how to become self-sufficient. Through hands-on learning, we help children, youth, families and individuals with special needs transition into the classroom, the workforce and the community.
