Our fourth meeting of the new Rotary year was at the Fisher Room of the Pittsford Community Library, on July 27, 2016.   Our usual hot breakfast was served thanks to Lisa at 7:00AM and our business meeting started around 7:40AM, culminating with our guest speaker around 8:00AM. We finished around 8:40AM.

Today's guests were Sophie McCormick (Outbound Exchange Student – Australia Bound), her sister, Maddie McCormick and mom; Lou Bircher, a friend of Jeanne Strazzabosco and prospective member; and guest speaker, Jesse Hollenbeck.

President Matt passed out thank you letters and photos from Diane Dailey and students of Henry Hudson School 28 Fourth Graders regarding their Field Trip to Niagara Falls on June 16 which the Rotary Club of Pittsford sponsored.

The tourney is a week from this coming Monday, August 8.  Peter Brown and Chris McCoy updated us on registration and sponsors.  We currently have 42 golfers, another 30 makes 72 for 18 simultaneous starts; 31 sponsors, but we could always use more; and Woodcliff Raffle Sales at $775 (18 members). Keep ‘em coming!   Woodcliff awaits the winner!

And they’re off… thanks in great part to Past President John Bernacki, who represented our Club at the Pittsford Youth's Duck Drop. Rotary of Pittsford was a “Commander” Level Sponsor of the Duck Drop and PYS.

Last week's Rotary brain teaser that the 22 spokes on the Rotary wheel have the same number of words as the 4-way test is incorrect. Gaven noted that "... p. 59 of the Manual of Procedure... jumps out at the reader. The “we” is a collection of “I”s and really would be better as “I” as "we" does not work for the last two items. It was developed to increase morale in a company and for the use of salesmen with their customers to tell them about the company with which they were dealing.  The “all concerned” were the individual entities of buyer and seller."

Today's Rotary Brain teaser is "What was the first service project of the first Rotary Club of Chicago?"
Answer: installation of public toilets in the City of Chicago.

Last week, our third speaker in the “No Place Like Home” series this month was Susan Hopkins from Bergmann Associates, who spoke about the revision of the Town of Pittsford Comprehensive Plan.

This week, our fourth and final guest speaker in the series was Jesse Hollenbeck, the Director of Recreation for the Town of Pittsford.  A first time guest speaker at Rotary, Jesse briefed us on current plans for the Community Center.
